Yonkers Streets are growing more dangerous by the day with viscous killers on Yonkers streets killing innocent people, like livery cab driver Pericles Salas who was out making a living driving a taxi, he was shot in the back of head and killed.
The Yonkers Police said, Pericles Salas was found in the middle of the street around 4:40 a.m. next to the intersection of Jessamine and Ramsey Avenue.
This is a middle class neighborhood where this happened and homeowners are concerned and want answers why the Yonkers Streets are so violent, where are the Yonkers Police, what’s going on here? Something needs to be done. The community is scared and worried. This is no way to live, said a homeowner. We pay our taxes, where is our protection, we should feel safe, but we don’t.”
Pericles Salas was only 23-years-old, he was pronounced dead at 5:15 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers. He leaves a 5-year-old daughter behind.
Fernando Mateo, President Of the New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers speaks on behalf of the victims brother and sister at a Press Conference in Yonkers. He said if the taxi had a divider or a camera maybe Pericles Salas would still be alive. Salas’ sister said, “Her brother was the best.” A resident found Pericles Salas slumped over in car that was in the middle of the car.
Yonkers Police are investigating and consulting with the NYPD that maybe recent cabbie killings might be linked since three other cabbies were killed in the Bronx.
Yonkers had nine murders in 2008.
